As everyone knows, the word “Mandala Art” means “circle” in the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. These days, mandala art serves as a soothing mental therapy in addition to being a type of design. It promotes inner peace, enhances focus, and fosters the organic development of creative expression.
When did the journey begin?
Mandala art began in India. In India the mandala art was part of Hinduism. The Mandala art showed harmony, balance and completion, later Buddhist monks took the Mandala art. Used it as a tool, for learning and meditation. The Mandala art then travelled through Tibet, Nepal, China and Japan. I have seen how the Mandala art moved from India to those lands.
Over time, I have watched mandala art move, beyond the roots.
Why is mandala art so special
- Mandalas show the whole universe, everything connected and complete. Because of that, every single design has a really deep meaning.
- Looking at or maybe just drawing a mandala is really soothing. It can help you chill out, lower your stress, and make your head feel a little clearer.
- When everything is perfectly balanced and the shapes keep repeating, that harmony just naturally makes you feel calm.
- Each mandala really shows what the person making it was feeling, like their thoughts and life energy, right at that moment.
- Mandala art is just everywhere, really universal, connecting old spiritual stuff with new art therapy across many cultures.

How to Start Creating Your Own Mandala
- Place a small central point on your paper or board.
- Lightly draw the guidelines of circles around the canter, outwards to create balance.
- Draw lines, shapes and patterns symmetrical, evenly and flow.

4.Now slowly turn your paper to maintain symmetry. Alternatively, make use of a ruler or scale.
5.Use pens, markers, or colors of choice to add highlights and give life to your design.
