Day 1: Arrival at Sittong – Welcome to the Orange Village

Arriving at NJP – The Beginning of Our Sittong Journey

And finally, we reached NJP (New Jalpaiguri Junction). As per my experience, our train Darjeeling Mail arrived around 8:30 AM, right on time.But it can be late some time.  The journey was super comfortable , through out the journey we have clean compartments, good amenities, and peaceful overnight travel. If you are planning a Sittong tour,as per my experiece Darjeeling Mail is highly recommended for a comfortable journey.

Once you step out of the station, the NJP Station Road area is filled with plenty of car options — private cars, shared cabs, and pre-paid taxis.so You can choose as per your budget and group size. But since this was my first friend’s trip, I didn’t want any last-minute confusion, so we pre-booked our car in advance. Trust me, pre-booking makes the journey stress-free, especially if you’re traveling early in the morning or during peak season.

By noon, we reached our cozy Sittong homestay—a wooden cottage with a balcony view straight into the mountains. We can hear the sound of birds, can feel the smell of oranges, and the warm welcome from the host felt like magic.

In Sittong, most homestays are located in Upper Sittong, offering stunning valley views and a peaceful environment. During our trip, we stayed at Yang Cottage, and I must say it was a cozy and comfortable stay. The per-head price was ₹1,600 per day, which included a clean room, homemade meals, and warm hospitality so Its highly recommended.

After complete the lunch, you can  started exploring or take rest for few minites.

• Orange Orchards:

Sittong is lovingly known as the Orange Village of Darjeeling. The orchards, especially around Middle Sittong , this are the delight to walk through them . During winter, the trees are heavy with ripe oranges, and the whole area feels warm and welcoming. And the smell of this orange feels you more happy. A simple walk here lets you experience village life at its most genuine.

The Jogighat Hanging Bridge, decorated with colorful prayer flags,and evry flag has a different story ,stretches across the Riyang Khola. Standing on the bridge and watching the river flowand fell that river how beutifull , calm it is. Nearby, an old wooden bridge from the British era quietly reminds you of stories from the past.

Day 3: Sittong → Kurseong

The next morning, after checking out from the homestay, another surprise of nature which is waiting for you , as you head towards Kurseong for the next part of your journey which is going to be more special .

After breakfast, you are ready for explore Kurseong. The journey (around 1.5–2 hours) was filled with tea gardens and misty hills. And some melodias songs.

After checking into your hotel,you can fresh an up and now  you are ready for exploring Kurseong:

One of the best thing of Kurseong is the legendary Makaibari Tea Estate. Walking through its green slopes feels like stepping into nature. Day 4: Kurseong → NJP / Bagdogra

Now you are ready for go back your home, deffintly you have some mixed emotion where you missed your home and also you missed this peace. Nut don’t worry you can carry this unforgettable memory which lives with you for lifetime.after complete yor breakfast now you are ready with your luggage because after exploring the sightseeing, you’ll be returning to NJP station.

• Ambotia Shiva Temple:

Now you come to see the magic of tradion here you can see Hidden within the lush Ambotia Tea Estate, the Ambotia Shiva Temple feels peaceful and untouched by crowds.not only this mandir you also feel the energy in the air, surrounding with tea garden ,that’s make a magical moment. and overlooking the flowing Balasun River, the temple’s calm atmosphere invites you to slow down.
